Jana Menger (1973, Novo mesto) started dancing and training gymnastics at an early age in Novo mesto. She soon discovered contemporary dance and started taking dance and performing arts workshops with national and international teachers. She started her professional career in 1993, when she joined Dance Theatre Ljubljana. She graduated from the Dance Academy in Ljubljana in 2013 and in 2015 from the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television with a BA in Art of Movement with a dance-theatre research project Banana Split. Since 1994 Jana has appeared in over 90 dance and theatre performances, working with choreographers and theatre directors in professional theatres as well as independent productions (Branko Potočan, Sinja Ožbolt, Fatou Traore, Matjaž Farič, Ksenja Hribar, Ivan Peternelj, Tanja Zgonc, Matej Kejžar, Jordi Cortes Molina, Ann Popoulis, Goran Bogdanovski, Matjaž Zupančič, Rosana Hribar, Gregor Luštek, Meta Hočevar, Matjaž Berger, Diego De Brea, Sebastjan Horvat, Mare Bulc, Eduard Miler, Boris Kobal, Lindy Davies …). As mentor, choreographer and director, she has been working closely with the collective Bitnamuun. She has been teaching at the the Alma Mater Europae Dance Academy in Ljubljana since 2016.
