Beno Novak (Kranj, 1991) started dancing under the guidance of Saša Lončar at Qulenium Cultural Association in Kranj and later attended the contemporary dance programme at the Pre-school Education, Grammar and Art Grammar School in Ljubljana. He graduated from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) in 2016. He was subsequently invited to upgrade his knowledge at the Tisch Dance (New York University)  and at The Place (London). In 2017 and 2018 he performed in Gary Clark’s Coal, which received numerous awards, among them  the UK Theatre Award and the Critics Circle National Dance Award. He has worked with international companies and choreographers such as Jason Mabana, James Wilton, Ricardo Ambrozio and others.
Beno has been teaching his Zero Space technique at different centres and festivals at home and abroad. He also regularly teaches at the Dance Academy in Ljubljana and at the Performact in Portugal. He is one of the organisers of the Kranj-based Kalejdoskop Dance Festival and Summer Intensive festival in Portugal. Besides working with international dance companies, Beno is also tightly involved in the productions of the KD Qulenium. He is also the author of several dance performances: Body Concert (in collaboration with Ana Romih, 2017), 400 Rabbits (in collaboration with Marina Abib, 2019) and Materija (Matter) with young dancers of the Maribor Dance Room (2020).
