Mojca Kasjak (1971, Maribor) graduated first from geography and sociology at the Maribor University and in 1997 finished a specialisation course at the London Contemporary Dance School in Great Britain. In her years-long career she created many performances, organised numerous projects and received many dance-related awards. Her creative and production work goes often hand in hand with working with children and young people; as a mentor she choreographed numerous performances for and with children and the young. As a dancer Mojca has worked with dance and theatre artists such as Minka Veselič Kološa, Snježana Premuš, Matjaž Farič, Grant Mc’Daniel, Andy Papas, Claire Russ, Jasmina Križaj, Aleksandra Blagojević, Maya Milenovič Workman, Sebastijan Horvat and many others.

She taught at Plesna izba Maribor (PIM) from its beginning (1994) until 2019. Between 2005 and 2013 she was PIM programme and artistic director. She leads professional dance seminars in Slovenia and children’s dance workshops for creative movement. She was also involved in the creation of the programme of national guidelines for cultural and artistic education in education at the Institute of Education of the Republic of Slovenia, in the expert commission for the project of institutionalisation of contemporary dance at the Ministry of Culture and the establishment of the Centre for Contemporary Dance Art.

in 2007, she founded the international festival Platform of Contemporary Dance in Maribor, of which she is the artistic and programme director. In 2017, she founded the Institute for Contemporary Dance Art, Creativity and Art of Living MOJA KREACIJA in Maribor. The institute focuses on promoting contemporary dance art, conducting professional seminars, dance workshops and workshops for the art of living, as well as programmes for a better quality of life. With the help of the creative arts, it develops artistic creations, produces dance performances and realises art projects and deals with therapeutic approaches in the field of art. As part of the project P.A.K.T. (Business Art Creative Therapy) project, she is developing a service that enables employees to utilise creative approaches to increase their efficiency and productivity.
She is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Arts Therapy at the University of Ljubljana. For the past four years, she has also worked as a national selection officer at the Public Fund for Cultural Activities (JSKD). In 2022, she was a programme associate at Borštnik’s Meeting Festival, where she prepared the professional and artistic programme for the international conference Theatre Inclusion – Social Activation. In 2023 she was a member of the artistic board of the national dance platform Gibanica within the The Contemporary Dance Association Slovenia (DSPS).
