Gregor Kamnikar (1971, Ljubljana) stopped using his own name for artistic purposes on his 40th birthday, 25 April 2011. Since then, he has used a new name for each new artistic work.

Prior to this date, he was exploring the artistic uses of movement through the lens of bodily and movement intelligence as a dancer, choreographer, actor, producer, organiser, writer and teacher in the form of performances, events, practices, installations and videos. The milestones of his early activities in dance were collaborations with choreographers such as Matjaž Farič, Eča Dvornik, Micha Van Hoecke and Renee Torres. His later practise was characterised by collaborations with Aleksandra Schuller, Valentina Čabro, Peter Todorov, Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik, Nina Meško, Federacija Collective, Dragana Alfirević, Mihaela Ciuha and many others. He was the founder of the Ops! Institute Ljubljana (1998) and co-founder of Federacija Collective (2009). He has been active as a hospital clown with Red Noses since 2007. He also works with the clown cabaret Za Crknt under the name Simeon Huzun. He occasionally works as a radio presenter.

He is currently a member of DISCOllective, which aims to explore the playful in various roles – dancer, performer, choreographer, clown_esse, teacher, writer, producer, activist, MC – in formats such as performance, dance, play, event, choreography, experiment, installation, lecture, workshop, publication, clown act, video, score, action. Since 2011, the members of DISCOllective have been playing a Name Game in which they exchange their artistic names with other members. In 2023, Gregor Kamnikar / DISCOllective received the Ksenija Hribar Award for original approach and practice in the field of contemporary dance, awarded by the Slovenian Contemporary Dance Association. In 2024, he received the SMEEL-Bunker Zlata strela (Golden Lighting) award for the outstanding event of the season for his work with the audience in the DISCOllective performances Časni plesi (Time Dances) and Druge kože (OtherSkin).
