Urša Sekirnik (1986, Kranj) graduated from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in 2011 and in 2014 obtained a degree in cultural studies from the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana. She lives and works between Slovenia and Spain.

In her work Urša is always looking for ways of finding a common ground with the audience, be it on an emotional level by sharing a personal story, as in her works The Visible Illusions of a Frozen Body (2011/2012) and The Other Void (2013), or through (ab)using channels such as blogs (Arriving Soon, 2011) and web shops (À la Cart Performance Webshop, 2014). In Radio Hit (2018) and Fent Cua / Waiting in Line (2020/2021), she explores the ways of including the audience both in the creative process and in the performance’s execution.

In 2010 Urša and conceptual artist and director Nina Jan co-founded KUD NUM, an art production company developing work in different spheres of performance and conceptual, installation and internet art. In 2019 she started working with the Barcelona-based La Visiva, where she has been developing different movement and dance related activities. As a dancer and performer, she has worked with many artists and companies (Big Bouncers, Emma Villavecchia, Jerome Bel, Nina Jan, Joana Serra, Collectif PoPs, Phoebe Osborne, Jordi Ferreira, Carolina Alejos, Silvia Elgarrist, etc). She had artist residencies at NDA, New York; tragantDansa, Barcelona; Muelle3, Bilbao; La Poderosa, Barcelona; CUK Kino Šiška Cultural Centre, Ljubljana; CC Albareda, Barcelona; CC Barceloneta, Barcelona; Dance Theatre Ljubljana; Moveo, Barcelona; Estruch Sabadell, Spain; nunArt, Barcelona; Castellbell i Vilar, Spain, and collaborated with a number of Slovenian and international  partners (Emanat, Aksioma, CUK Kino Šiška, Bunker, all Ljubljana; Eye Film Muesum, Amsterdam; Drugo More, Croatia; Antic Teatre, Barcelona).
