Radharani Pernarčič (1979) graduated from ethnology and cultural anthropology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and from contemporary dance and choreography at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. Between 2009 and 2012 she was assistant researcher at the Department of Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Arts. During this time she carried out a series of workshops aimed at connecting theoretical knowledge with performative skills as well as published articles discussing the position of self-employed artists, an area she has been interested in since 2003. Ever since she has been spontaneously moving between different media/fields, so her work would best be described as interdisciplinary. In her performance work Radharani is interested in “the movement of space”, in different modes of communication and inner states/impulses that open up performative-movement material and relations, seasoned with a fair amount of playfulness. She has focused on these aspects also in the project Na začasnem naslovu najinega početja, which she co-created with Gregor Kamnikar. She has been developing her own movement-cognitive training, founded a platform for the research of kinesthetic intelligence, sensibility and perception SENSEncePICNIC and for a while worked closely with Federacija Institute. In 2014 she was a “silent mentor” to cognitive science student Dayana Hristova and co-developed a series of movement experiments at the Department for Artificial Intelligence and Rehabilitation Robotics. In the same year she also collaborated with Juhani Pallasmaa as a guest lecturer and commentator at his 1-week workshop at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, dedicated to the question of how to go beyond mere form in space design.

Radharani published two books of poetry: Vesolje žalujko, veter žaluzije (2008) and Bull-roarer (2013, Jenko Award nomination), the third one Skalpel za sanjsko membrano has not yet found a publisher. She has published in domestic and international literary magazines, anthologies and appeared at numerous international festivals. Her work is translated to English, Polish, Czech, Catalan, Hebrew, Bulgarian etc. Some of her early poems were set to music by Fake Orchestra and Andraž Polič. In 2014 she co-founded the band Icy Noctiluca with the musician Mario Babojelić, focused on exploring the potentials of the synergy between poetry and music. She is currently working on her fourth poetry collection Sin-aesthetics of Castro Fik Arka (for Livya Trustine Monrêve), which was supported with a grant by the Slovene Writers’ Association and explores the synesthetic aspects of language and the (mis)perception that cultural practices and science as wide fields of production are a given – the topics which are developed and fine-tuned also in her visual art and performance based exhibitions / installations featuring Castro Fik Arka ‘invents’.
