Magdalena Reiter (1977, Gdańsk) is Polish choreographer, dancer and pedagogue based in Slovenia since 2002. She has graduated from the National Ballet School in Gdańsk, Poland, and from P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios) in Brussels, Belgium. Magdalena created more than 20 choreographic pieces in frame of independent production houses and as commissioned works for Studio Contemporary Dance Company (Zagreb, Croatia), Polish Dance Theatre – Poznan Ballet, Bodhi Project – a company in residency at SEAD (Salzburg, Austria), Anton Podbevšek Teater (Novo Mesto, Slovenia), Puppet Theatre Ljubljana, Plesna Izba Maribor. As a dancer and performer she has worked with and performed for Johanne Saunier, Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre, Matjaž Farič, Mateja Bučar, Matjaž Berger and others.
Over the years, she has explored the body as a site of perception, memory, and potential transformation, often performing in her own works while collaborating with artists from the fields of dance, theatre, and music. In recent years, her work has evolved toward the intersection of choreography and video. Through multimedia dance performances and installations, she investigates time-based structures and the unstable relationship between live presence and mediated image.
Alongside her work for the dance field, she is also active as a choreographer for theatre productions, collaborating internationally with directors and dramaturgs in both institutional and independent contexts. She creates choreographies for theatre productions (with Mateja Koležnik, De Tijd, Janez Burger, Matjaž Berger, ect.), opera productions and works as a movement advisor in films.
She was the founder and artistic director of Vibra – Festival & Dance Workshops in Ljubljana (2013–2020), an international platform dedicated to contemporary dance practices, artistic exchange, and education.
Magdalena has worked internationally as a teacher and mentor (Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts, Contemporary Dance Department, Zagreb Dance Centre, SEAD / Salzburg Experimental Dance Academy, Pre-School Eduation, Grammar and Arts Grammar School Ljubljana, EnKnapGroup, numerous workshops in France, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Poland).
She received Ksenija Hribar Award for Choreographic opus (2023), Best performance award of the international jury at the 2nd Slovene Dance Festival Gibanica, Best performance award at 8th Teaterfest in Sarajevo among other praises. Her works were presented in multiple European countries.
