Jasmina Križaj (1982, Maribor, Slovenia) graduated in choreography from the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) at the Theaterschool in Amsterdam. She has presented her performances at many festivals at home and abroad. With the piece Zebra in the Hair Saloon she received the award for the best new creation of the year 2006 (ACT Festival, Bilbao, Spain). In 2009 she co-created Sugar Rush, which was supported by the European Cultural Foundation. In 2010 she was selected to participate in David Zambrano’s project 50 Days of Flying Low and Passing Through Costa Rica. She was also a member of the 50collective, with which she introduced herself to European and American audiences. Between 2010 and 2014, she was part of the international project Modul-Dance, in which she created the works The Very Delicious Piece and The Very Boring Piece, made in close collaboration with the Portuguese artist Cristina P. Leitao (CJ collaboration). She was the 2013 recipient of the DanceWeb scholarship at the ImpulsTanz Festival in Vienna (mentor Ivo Dimchev). In 2015 Jasmina was featured in the new piece Genesis by Slovenian artist Mala Kline, which is the result of a process lasting several years under the title DreamLab Communitas. In the 2016 Performa/Platforma festival production, she was part of the performative research Duration by Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik.
She has collaborated with Swiss artists Simon Wehrli and Daniel Gisler, with artist residencies in Europe and Australia. Their work was presented in the performances Nature Poetry (2017), and Deep Purple (2022). In 2020, she and Simon Wehrli prepared the dance-music performance Nothing Works (Shakira, Shakira) in collaboration with Swiss guitarist Franziska Staubli and Dutch artist Robert Steijn. Jasmina teaches contemporary dance technique and improvisation. For the past five years, she has been trained in traditional Chinese medicine and received a certificate for passing CNT I and CNT III (Tok Sen). She is also studying Integral psychotherapy.
