Aja Zupanec (1988, Celje) started dancing at the Celje Dance Forum under the guidance of Gordana Stefanovič-Erjavec, performing in numerous productions and performances at home and abroad. In 2008 she started studying at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, where she graduated in 2011. In 2020 she graduated with an MA from the art of movement at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana with the experimental video Gaea.
She has worked and performed with Milan Tomášik, Mateja Bučar, Natalija Manojlović Varga and others, and has thus far created two solo performances: Prikrito-Razkrito (Hidden-Revealed), 2012 and Liter of Glitter, 2018.
Aja has been devoting much for her time to pedagogical work. She has been teaching regularly since 2015 at the contemporary dance, theatre-film and nursery departments of the Pre-school Education, Grammar and Art Grammar School. She also taught at the Laško Radeče Music School, Celje Dance Forum, Celje Ice Skating Club and led different workshops. Teaching is for her a special responsibility and a valuable opportunity to pass on the knowledge and the skills and thus contribute to the growth and development of new generations.
