choreographer and pedagogue
Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik (1975, Kranj, Slovenia), a multiple-award winning choreographer, pedagogue and author of numerous stage, research and educational projects, has graduated with an MA from the London Contemporary Dance School in 1999. Understanding dance as a mode of behaviour, Andreja has been researching the topicality and relevance of the structures and formats she uses in her work, parallel to examining how to think about and practice art in a given context. In terms of dance as an art form, she is therefore making work on the boundaries of the definition of dance, and it is precisely these boundaries that spark her interests and allow her to realise her ideas and inspirations. Her projects are often collaborative and include different musicians, actors, designers and, of course, dancers. As a videomaker she has collaborated with choreographers Sarah Fahie, Snježana Premuš, Lucia Baumgartner and Irena Tomažin. She teaches at the contemporary dance programme of the Pre-school Education, Grammar and Art Grammar School in Ljubljana as well as holds workshops in Slovenia and abroad. Andreja is the co-founder and collaborator of Federacija Institute, established in 2009, in the frame of which she also focused on the social aspects of performing arts and dance and worked with different social groups such as young people or the elderly.
